Which, you might think,Rolex is a bit of a problem if you're Archie Macpherson. For 40 years, on and off, he supplied the highly excitable narrative to oor fitba. Like the dumpling centre-forward straining for a cross, he reached for words, often grand ones, to capture the occasion and sometimes they didn't come out quite right. These are the perils of being a commentator, especially a scholarly one, a former headmaster no less. If you think it's easy, you try. Macpherson commentated on the glory years, although they weren't called that at the time: regular World Cup qualification and the odd European club trophy were, we presumed, the norm. When he swanned off to London, it seemed like a good move all round. He wanted to progress thereplica rolex career and, he says, "the people up here, I think, had had enough of me". In England, he was sometimes patronised, sometimes cast in the role of court jester, just down from funny wee Scotland, but replica watches he had a good time. Then he went to Paris and commentated from a broom cupboard for Eurosport and had a great time. But when he returned to Scotland, a strange and wonderful thing happened: we finally recognised Archie's genius. Admittedly it was easy for the former rector of Edinburgh University to be cerebral next to the tragically miscast Sarah O but we really loved it when he cut through the anodyne blethers of his fellow pundits and (I choose this at random) opined: "This is the worst Rangers side I've seen replica rolexin 20 years." When you reach a certain age you can say what the hell you like, and Macpherson doesn't half do that in his autobiography. 本日志相关的主题:
